DESCRIPTION:Join us at Confluence Park for Birding the San Antonio River with Mark Menjivar on Sunday, May 7, 9:00 – 11:00AM and learn about local and migrating birds seen along the San Antonio River. \nBirding is about so much more than just birds. It is about looking, listening, and exploring. It is about imagination, color, texture, songs, movement and more! Sponsored by the Bexar Audubon Society, Artist Mark Menjivar has partnered with the San Antonio River Foundation to design a handcrafted field guide and lead a corresponding bird walk to teach adults and children of all ages how to identify birds found in habitats surrounding Confluence Park and the Mission Reach Ecosystem Restoration and Recreation Project of the San Antonio River, the largest Urban Ecosystem Restoration Project in the country. \nREGISTER NOW TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT! Birding the San Antonio River with Mark Menjivar is free and open to the public with free parking provided at Confluence Park (310 W Mitchell). Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable, close-toed shoes and bring a reusable water bottle. His work explores diverse subjects through photography, archives, oral history and participatory project structures. He holds a BA in Social Work from Baylor University and an MFA in Social Practice from Portland State University.
