SUMMARY:Audrya Flores, Play and Decay at the Confluence Ephemeral Art Installation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Play and Decay at the Confluence is an ephemeral installation workshop with local artist Audrya Flores. Participants will gather, sort, and arrange organic materials from Confluence Park to assist in the creation of a large flower-serpent assemblage on a hillside near the river. The workshop will teach participants to forage for natural materials in safe and respectful ways and self-soothe through pattern-making. We will also explore the symbolism of the serpent as we work. Space is limited, registration is required. Ages 15+.\nSaturday, May 4, 9:00AM – 12:00PM at Confluence Park, 310 W Mitchell Street, San Antonio, TX 78204\nThe completed installation will be on view to the public until May 31.\n*This will be a physical activity that requires working on the ground. Please wear yard work or gardening clothes, closed toe shoes, work gloves, and bring a water bottle. Ages 15+\nREGISTER HERE!\nABOUT AUDRYA FLORES\nAudrya Flores is a Tejana artist and mother who repurposes textiles and organic materials for her mixed media works. Through storytelling and myth-making, she explores trauma, healing, and identity. Her work is influenced by all things natural and supernatural as well as her roots in the border town of Brownsville, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has exhibited at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Mexic-Arte Museum, Lady Base Gallery, Provenance Gallery, Luminaria Contemporary Arts Festival, Centro de Artes, Culture Commons Gallery, Central Library Gallery at San Antonio Public Library, Contemporary at Blue Star, and Sala Diaz. Flores lives and works in San Antonio, Texas.\n
