BIKESHARE, How it works:
1.
San Antonio BCycle is a bikeshare system, a shared form of public transportation
2.
Bikeshare requires riders to travel from docking station to docking station, ensuring they dock their BCycle at least once an hour to keep bikes avaialbe for all.
3.
San Antonio BCycle is an app based bikeshare system. Use the BCycle app to find BCycle stations, purchase passes and check on bike and station availability.
FREE DAY PASS
Each Bugs, Bikes & Botany Nature Adventure Kit includes a FREE BCycle Day Pass, giving riders 18 and older unlimited 1-hour trips within 24 hours. Just remember to dock your bike every hour at any station listed on the BCycle app to end your trip and avoid usage fees. Then, hop on the same bike or a different one to keep exploring the Mission Reach!
Before You Ride: Fine Print Details
Dock Every Hour:
To avoid extra usage fees, please dock your bike at any BCycle station within each 1-hour window. You’ll find BCycle stations conveniently located along the Mission Reach trail, making it easy to dock, explore, and pick up a bike when you’re ready to continue.
Not a Rental, It’s a Bikeshare:
Unlike traditional rentals, which are meant for holding a bike for hours or even days, a bikeshare is designed for short trips with multiple stops. This system allows riders to pick up and drop off bikes as needed, making it a flexible, on-demand option perfect for exploring different points of interest without holding onto the bike all day.
Using Your Promo Code:
If you’re using an Adventure Nature Kit, it includes a BCycle luggage tag with a promo code. Be sure to enter this promo code on the Pass Purchase page to activate your free Day Pass. Please return the luggage tag with the kit when you’re done, so others can enjoy this adventure as well!
Important to Know:
$26 Pre-Authorization Hold:
To keep our fleet safe and available for all, a $26 pre-authorization hold will be placed on your card when you check out a bike. Don’t worry – this hold will drop off within 1-3 business days, depending on your bank. We know this can be an unexpected charge, so we want to make sure you’re aware upfront.
Credit/Debit Card Requirement:
A credit or debit card is required to create your BCycle Pass to cover any potential usage fees. Please note that credit card gift cards cannot be used due to necessary security features. Your card will not be charged if you stay within the 1-hour trip limit for each ride during the 24 hours of the Day Pass.
Usage Fees:
Your Day Pass provides unlimited 1-hour trips within the 24-hour period. To avoid usage fees, dock your bike at any station before the end of each hour. If you’d like to continue riding, simply check out the bike again after docking. If a trip exceeds 1 hour, a $3.25 fee per additional half-hour will apply until the bike is docked.
On the Mission Reach, adventure meets respect for the trail and all who share it. Riding like a Bikeshare River Pioneer means embracing the spirit of exploration while keeping safety and courtesy in mind. Follow these essential trail rules to ensure a smooth, enjoyable journey for everyone:

Ride on the right and pass on the left with a
warning like “on your left.”
Yield to Pedestrians:
Pedestrians have the right of way, so slow
down and give them space.

In crowded areas, ride single file to make
room for others.

especially around curves or when it’s busy.
Watch for Wildlife:
Give animals space and avoid startling them.
Stay on the Trail:
Stick to the path to protect the environment.
Pack Out Trash:
Leave no trace—dispose of trash properly.
