    I-35 Overpass near Camden Street

    It’s hard not to smile at Philadelphia artist Donald Lipski’s school of giant fish swimming through the sky beneath the interstate overpass. The cluster of 25 seven-foot-long creatures of hand-painted fiberglass resin are anatomically correct models of long-eared sunfish, native to the river. Impressive by day and stunningly lit from within at night, the glowing fish are a beacon from blocks away, adding color and levity to a once neglected downtown area. A 26th fish is on display in The DoSeum, San Antonio's Museum for Kids, offering an up-close view of the installation’s vibrant detailing.


    COMMISSIONED PUBLIC ART
    The San Antonio River Foundation commissioned and funded public artworks for the benefit of our community and in support of our partners in the $384M San Antonio River Improvements Project. All works along the Mission Reach have been donated to the City of San Antonio's public art collection in perpetuity.

    World Water Day Scavenger Hunt

    Celebrate World Water Day with the San Antonio River Foundation, San Antonio River Authority, and San Pedro Creek Culture Park. Join us for an interactive scavenger hunt exploring water-themed public artwork along the San Antonio River and San Pedro Creek. Participants will be able to get out, safely explore their city, and appreciate some of the aquatic amenities throughout San Antonio.

    Schedule of Events:

    Activity Kit Giveaway (Saturday, March 20th at 12:00-1:00 PM): To kick off the scavenger hunt on Saturday, March 20th, we will be giving away a limited amount of activity kits to participants who arrive at Confluence Park from 12:00-1:00 PM. Each kit will be filled with an assortment of recreational items for families to #DiscoverYourRiver. Please wear masks and practice safe social distancing when picking up your activity kit. Limit one per family.

    Water Scavenger Hunt (Saturday, March 20th-Sunday, March 21st): Ready, Set, Go! From Saturday, March 20th through Sunday, March 21st, 2021, participants can submit their completed scavenger hunts by tagging @SARiverFoundation, @SanAntonioRiver, and @SanPedroCreek in their carousel of images on Instagram or Facebook, or they can email their image files to confluencepark@sariverfound.org. Deadline to submit is Sunday, March 21, at 11:59 PM.

    Grand Prize Winner Announcement (Monday, March 22nd): One grand prize winner will receive a kayaking trip for four from Mission Adventure Tours! Winner will be chosen from all of the completed entries and announced on the San Antonio River Foundation, San Antonio River Authority, and San Pedro Creek Culture Park’s social media channels on Monday, March 22nd. The fun will continue with World Water Day trivia on Instagram and a video featuring our amazing River Authority education team!
